Indoor cycling is a class focusing on endurance, strength, intervals, high intensity and recovery. A special stationary bicycle is used which includes a device that modifies the difficulty of pedalling, adjustment points that allow the rider to feel most comfortable and specially shaped handlebars. A typical class involves one instructor at the front of the class leading the participants through routines that are meant to simulate situations similar to riding a bike outside.
This class tones your upper legs, lower legs, arms and back as well as abdominals. The big muscles from the pelvis to the knee extend and do most of their work on the down stroke of pedalling where as the hamstrings are able to help raise the leg back up. This class will allow you to burn over 500 calories while pedalling at a moderate pace!
