Here are four of the most popular fitness classes for beginners!
The Classes
Bootcamp: Get ready to sweat with this 60 minute high intensity workout. Designed to mimic military style training, this high energy workout is a great way to maximize weight loss while also toning your body . Featuring high interval intensity training, dynamic stretching, functional training, free weights, and sprinting, this supercharged workout will not only challenge your strength, fitness, and endurance, but your mental limits as well!
Zumba: With an estimated 15 million people weekly taking classes in 200,000 locations across the world, it’s no wonder why Zumba has become increasingly popular over the years. Incorporating dancing and intense cardio, if you love to dance- this is the class for you! Combining pulsating Latin music with the choreographed dance routines such as salsa, merengue, hip hop,and sambo- this 60 minute fat burning workout will have your endorphins kicking in overdrive. Taught by a certified Zumba instructor, there are usually a variety of Zumba classes available, so make sure you know what you signed up for when you enter the gym! Yoga: Looking for something on the opposite side of the spectrum? Existing for over 5,000 years, this mind body workout that encompasses over 100 different forms of yoga is a great way to improve flexibility, tone your body, and learn relaxing meditative techniques. And just like Zumba, the popularity of yoga in America is staggering. Spending a whopping 2.5 billion dollars a year on yoga instruction annually, America’s infatuation with yoga is catching on. In 2012- there were roughly 20 million participants. Fast forward to 2020 and the projected total is almost tripled at 55 million.
Pilates: Arguably, the least heralded of the four workouts, pilates is a great way to improve flexibility, and build strength while also focusing on your breathing, proper alignment and core strength. Incorporating two types of workouts, one on a mat and one with the pilates apparatus (also known as a reformer that is a series of straps, springs, and bars). Lasting anywhere from 45 minutes to one hour, this medium level intensity workout is recommended for people looking to target there core and sculpt there muscles.
